(More customer reviews)I've used and then owned IR thermometers for years.They used to cost hundreds of dollars.I've used a couple of commercial ones in the kitchen the past few years... they work well, and don't need to touch what is being measured.But they cost about a hundred dollars.This one is $40.The one disadvantage with this one is that the viewing angle for measurement is wide (about 1" at 1" distance); you need to be close.The more costly ones have much narrower viewing angles... you can be further away.Advantages: you don't need to touch what you're measuring, measurements take about one second, and they are accurate. Highly recommended. Good instructions.
