(More customer reviews)Got this for my son who is in culinary school as a novelty.Glad he won't have to use it to really time his meals or he would be in trouble.The design is cute though very small.The timer doesn't ding at the right time; gave a little click at 3 minutes and again at 2 minutes but never dinged at all when time was up.What good is that unless you are watching the timer?Not what the timer is for obviously - who wants to watch the food and the timer.He can put it on his novelty shelf though. Got the green one on sale so I'm not too miffed about it - if I had paid full price I probably would have made a fuss.

(More customer reviews)My last plastic scale accidentally broke when I dropped it.Needed a new scale and wanted something that looked really nice, but still did the job.The scale is easy to read and denotes grams, ounces and pounds.

I really wanted a stainless steel scale so that I could avoid rust.I've purchased a few items that look like stainless steel and aren't and when you put them in a bathroom or a kitchen where there is water, steam, or exposure to damp items the rust just ruins it.I threw out my last metal garbage can because the foot pedal rusted off.

For this price, you can't expect a heavy sheet of steel.The thickness is comparable to a standard pie tin if that helps.It's not like a heavy duty, commercial cookie sheet. Then again, it's not like the scale will see as much action as the bottom of a pie tin, so it serves its use and considering the price is [...] bucks, I can't complain too loudly.

I like that the bowl is removable and you can just throw it in the dishwasher.You can also "zero out" the scale and put other containers in lieu of the bowl it came with.

One of the cons is that the dimensions of this thing are off.I refer to the actual physical size of this thing.Product dimensions list this as 9.5 x 9 x 6 inches.Was that the scale base only?The scale base plus the bowl?Either way, I don't know how they got those dimensions.Anyhow, in the end, this thing was a little larger than I expected.From the bottom of the scale to the rim of the bowl on top, it measured 10.25" in height.The width of the base is 6-3/8".The depth of the base is 4 inches even and the scale readout extends out 1/4 of an inch in the front and the back.

The other con about this is that the face is plastic, not glass.I could not verify this anywhere before purchasing, but assumed it was plastic due to the price.It would have been nice if this thing did come with a glass face.

All in all, it's a very good-looking scale.A little larger than expected and the product specs should state it has a plastic face.

(More customer reviews)Although this scale is intended mostly for diet analysis, I don't use it for that purpose and so cannot opine on its utility.However, I have found it essential for other applications.We buy large packages of hamburger or large roasts and break them up into smaller units; this scale is a godsend.Also, we have some non-U.S. cookbooks in which measurements for dry ingredients such as flour are given by weight, not volume.Again, this scale is exactly what is needed.It is easy to use and to keep clean; another good feature!

Kitrics 3 in 1 Scale Review

(More customer reviews)I just received my new scale, on time, as projected. I have only two complaints. One, it is a bit smaller than I imagined. Two, the weighing platform is not removable.

Otherwise, it's attractive. It's quite convenient with the clock plus a count up and count down timer. Its accuracy seems good; my test nickel weighed 5 grams precisely. And, its reproducibility seems to be excellent, despite eccentric placement of weight on the platform. It can be hung on the wall; and, it has a folding leg to hold it nearly upright - when weighing is not required: counter space friendly. It also has a "high/low" volume setting for the timer alert, though not a big difference between them.

If reliability does not prove to be an issue, it appears that this is an overall winner, despite its Chinese manufacture. The instructions are written by someone with a good command of English. If it were accurate to 0.1 gram, I'd rate it 5 stars.

(More customer reviews)The scale isn't precise, but it was expected when I made the purchase, although the heavier the stuff you're measuring, the larger the discrepancy.However, I discovered that you could fine tune it so that it could be more precise, although it requires you open up the scale and fiddle with the mechanism inside, which I don't recommend since the parts could be easily broken.The "cup" flips over and covers the scale when not in use, which makes the whole thing compact for storage.

Salter Aquatronic Glass Kitchen Scale Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this scale recently to replace another salter aquatronic scale that just died (1003).The odd thing about this design is that the feet of the scale control the weight points which is fine for single use.However if you try to hit zero after already loading in some items on the scale (like if you want to weigh ingredient after ingredient in the same bowl)the scale measurement actually changes each time you hit the zero button.In essence it is very difficult to reset the zero feature since everytime you push the panel, the scale thinks that you are adding weight to it.The previous models had the scale parts internal to the unit so that pushing on the frame of the scale had no impact on the measurements.However with this unit, any light touch on any part of the scale causes the measurement to change.Not very useful if you plan on using any of the buttons on the front of the scale.

Overall if you plan on only ever measuring one item at a time and don't plan on using the zero function, then this unit is fine.Otherwise avoid this type of design where the feet of the unit is part of the internal measuring mechanisms.This one is going back for me so I give it a 2/5 since it does not do everything that is stated on the box.I do not think that this was a lemon unit, just a bad design.
