(More customer reviews)I, too, have had nothing but trouble from this timer.It worked fine for the first month or six weeks, although as others have noted the buttons are excessively debounced and have to be pressed and held to function.After that initial period of unenthusiastic mild satisfaction, however, it began to "freeze" sporadically and, more recently, continuously.Even the kids now know how to remove the battery cover, take the battery out for a few seconds, and replace it to reset the timer.I ordered a new (different) timer today, and figured I'd stop by here and leave this review while I was thinking about it.Avoid this thing.

(More customer reviews)I've decided to keep it, because it has three timers, it is very pretty, and I love the display of the dots around the outer ring to mark the seconds (much easier to read than the usual rapid numerical countdown of seconds).However, setting the timer is really not very convienient (note- I am tech-savvy, so this is not a problem on the user-end).You have to hold the timer button down for two seconds to be able to change the timer setting (similar to accessing the time-change function on a watch) at which point it emits a VERY loud beep, louder than the actual timer alarm.This seems odd to me, since you probably won't be next to it when the alarm goes off, but you have to be when you have your hands on it to set it.Anyhow, if at this point you accidentally hit the timer button again before setting the hours/minutes/seconds for the timer, you will enter count-up mode, and if the unit is counting up, it doesn't allow you to set the timer, or clear the settings.If this happens, you have to hit the timer button again to pause the count-up mode, at which point it will allow you to enter the timer change mode again (via the two-second timer button press with the loud beep).Personally, I think it would be nice if it would automatically clear the last timer setting when you enter the timer change mode- as it is, once you are in change mode you need to manually press and hold the hour and minute buttons down together to clear the last timer setting, then you can start fresh from zero.If this sounds confusing and/or frustrating, this may not be the timer you are looking for.Frankly, I'm not sure it was the timer I'm looking for either... but I think I'll make it work.

(More customer reviews)We had a West Bend timer that lasted more than 15 years before it finally gave out.We got another West Bend timer to replace it, but it lasted less than two years (button failure), so we were looking for something we hoped would be better.We've been pleased with other OXO products so we thought we'd try this timer. My first impression is that feels kind of cheap, it is very light weight, which is not necessarily bad, it just doesn't feel like other OXO products we have.

The little front feet on the underside are too far back, when it's sitting on the counter and you try to push the buttons, especially the important ones like "start/stop" and "0", the unit rocks forward (this is also a function of the light weight).We find that most of the time, we have to pick it up to press the buttons.Also, on a couple of occasions, the buttons have stuck in, the button openings are a little big and the rubbery button will twist a bit and get wedged in, not a big deal but an annoyance.The timer select buttons on the side are a bit small and close together.My wife doesn't like the beep sounds it makes, but the sounds are loud enough and functional.

We like the fact that you can directly enter the time with the number buttons rather than holding down a single button while the time increments.

We've only had it a month, so time will tell how well it holds up to daily use, hopefully it will last a while, but I'm not over confident. Bottom line is that it gets the job done but I don't feel it's up to OXO standards.

(More customer reviews)The model that this one replaces was alot better. It gave three distinct beeps for the three timers. It was simpler to use, and sat nicely on the counter. This one adds a clock-I think most kitchens already have one-and a stop watch that may come in handy. It tips over when you press the buttons, because of the narrow magnet assembly protruding from the back, ironically making it useless as a magnetic timer, and requiring two hands to set. They should have left the design as it was, it was alot better. Edit: less than two years later, the buttons are sticking, not working right. Not very kitchen-hardy. Take off another star.
