I had it for a week, and it worked.On the day I needed it the freaking thing stop working! Sorry piece of crap! I had to rush to Sears to buy another model. The shipping was excellent and the company I brought it from is first-class, but the Maverick Digital Roasting Thermometer and Timer is a cheap piece of dookie! What can you expect for under 10 dollars?

Those may have more features, but really, how many things are you going to cook at once.For the rest of us, there's this one for a great price.Since I've purchased it, I haven't overcooked a pork roast or turkey.You insert the probe into the meat and put the digital readout on the front of your oven.Set the temp you want, turn on the alarm and walk away.When the internal temp of the meat reaches your set point, an alarm sounds and your set.No more opening the oven, letting out all the heat and checking the temp, only to find you missed it and now your meat is overcooked.

We brought it to the Bahamas where it now lives in a drawer between visits there and uses. We use it for everything, grilling, any instant read thermo need, continuous thermo reading of roasting in oven, checking and proving oven thermostat. It's also an easy to use timer and clock...and it's loud enough to get your attention!
We haven't ried 'em all, but this one outshines the two or three we've used over the years.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this thermometer and as fate would have it I damaged the probe and need to replace it. THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PROBES. This is nothing more than a digital timer now. This is the same item that Pyrex and Sunbeam market but here are no probes available for those either. These seem to be manufactued by the same company.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item at another retailer (wish I would have gotten it here!) and have used it twice already.The price was great!I had a corded one before that didn't have the remote, but wanted to try this.I used it on the grill to cook some chicken and had no problem with the cord at all.It was great because I didn't have to constantly run to the grill to check the temp -- I did once but then realized I didn't have to and waited for the beeps (and it was cold out).The chicken breast turned out well.I used it in the oven this weekend for a roast, and again, it was great.The meat was done really well and cooked just the way we like it.I like that I don't have to spend all my time in the kitchen checking and checking the temperature.I truly didn't worry about the roast until I got the beeps.Can't wait to try it again for the holidays

(More customer reviews)I ordered this item when my old timer (which is almost identical to this one) just went and stopped working on me one day. I loved the model I have, so I wanted something that was similar. This fit the bill. And it was cheaper! The meat thermometer works great and I haven't had any issue with this timer at all yet. (I've had it for less than six months.) My only complaint is that the on/off switch is kind of tough to slide back and forth at times. But it's not a dealbreaker for me.
